Users can get effectively use the tool to edit texts for Windows, Mac, Unix or Linux like OS’s and environments. EditPad Pro is not available for Mac but there are some alternatives that runs on macOS with similar functionality. The most popular Mac alternative is Sublime Text.It's not free, so if you're looking for a free alternative, you could try Bluefish Editor or TextWrangler.
Plain text files, HTML files and software source code are all different, and so are your habits and preferences for editing them. Using a single text editor to edit all your text files should not force you to edit all those files in the same way.
You can configure most of EditPad Lite’s text editing options for each individual file type. If after some time you find EditPad Lite doesn’t do things the way you want, there’s likely an option for it in the file type configuration.
Definition: The file type definition determines which file type’s settings EditPad Lite will use for which files. Since file types are usually indicated by their files’ extensions, you’ll usually specify a list of extensions such as “*.htm;*.html” for HTML files. For files without or variable extensions, you can specify other file masks. A unique feature is EditPad Lite’s ability to detect magic values as the start of the file, such as the DOCTYPE declaration for HTML files.
Encoding: EditPad Lite edits all text files. Open text files saved on Linux, UNIX and Macintosh computers, or even text files from old DOS PCs or IBM mainframes. EditPad Lite preserves the file’s compatibility with those systems, unless you explicitly convert it. You’ll never have to worry about being unable to open a text file, and you’ll always be able to save your files in a format that people with less flexible text editors can read. EditPad Lite handles DOS/Windows, UNIX/Linux and Macintosh line breaks. Open and save text files encoded in Unicode (UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32), any Windows code page, any ISO-8859 code page, and a variety of DOS, Mac, EUC, EBCDIC, and other legacy code pages.
Editor: Choose one of the preset text layouts for left-to-right, right-to-left, or complex script text editing, or configure your own for maximum control over text direction, cursor movement, word selection, text spacing, and fonts. For line-based file types, you can turn on the option to show line numbers. Lines can be numbered with or without taking word wrapping into account. Free audio software for windows 8. Tabbing: Different people editing a file with different tab size settings can mess up the indentation of the file. EditPad lets you configure the tab size per file type and can even use a regular expression auto-detect the tab size for each file. Elastic tab stops avoid the tab size issue completely (but require everyone to use an editor that supports them). Easily edit tab-separated or comma-separated files. EditPad can arrange tab-delimited fields in columns and even treat commas or other characters as tabs.
Colors and Syntax: Change EditPad Lite’s appearance to suit your tastes and eyesight. EditPad Lite includes a wide variety of color palettes with light themes, dark themes, colorful palettes, and monochrome palettes. It can even mimic popular IDEs such as Visual Studio, Embarcadero’s RAD Studio, or PowerShell. You can use any of the predefined configuration as the basis for your own.

Brackets: Syntax coloring schemes can pair up brackets and tags. EditPad can Lite automatically highlight matched and unmatched brackets and tags.

EditPad Lite is an excellent general-purpose text editor that's fast, easy to use, and packed with useful features.
The program can open as many files as you need, for instance, and you can switch between them with a tabbed interface. The tabs work much like a browser, so you're able to rearrange them by dragging and dropping, close all but the current tab with a right-click option, or save a file by dragging and dropping its tab onto a folder.
EditPad Lite offers a wide range of interesting text manipulation options. You're able to indent and outdent text, insert the contents of a file at a given point in your document, convert a selected block of text to upper or lower case, and more. Mac os x screen capture. A powerful search and replace panel includes a history, so you can recall previous searches in a couple of clicks. And the unlimited undo and redo will rescue your work if you make a mistake.

Productivity features include the option to keep the EditPad window on top of your other windows. And the program can leave an icon in the system tray, so it's very easy to access. Don't let the 'Lite' designation fool you. There is a commercial version available with extra features (and if you like this then check the author's site for the details), but we think there's more than enough text editing functionality here for most people
